--- author: brinck-slattery title: 'Hacktoberfest!' date: '2018-10-01 15:10:00' cover: 'Hacktoberfest.jpg' --- The leaves are starting to fall, and that means it’s time for Hackoberfest! Thanks to [DigitalOcean’s hard work](https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com/), newbies and seasoned open source developers alike have a unique opportunity to solve new and challenging problems and bugs all through the month of October (and earn [some recognition and a free t-shirt](https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com/details) in the process). Open source is (literally) part of our DNA here at LBRY, and we’re always happy when we get an opportunity to support our fellow open source projects. Throughout the month of October, our developers will be hosting informational sessions, meetups, and coding projects to introduce other programmers to the world of open source software and start making contributions immediately. Additionally, we’re using this month to: * Do an alpha launch of lbry.tech * Revitalize our technical community, including a new forum * Offer sweet rewards to contributors new and old * Give back to other open-source projects ### Ready to get involved? A full schedule of events is below. As videos get published, this post will be updated with links. However, you don’t need to wait! Our [contributor guide](https://lbry.tech/contribute) and lbry.tech are ready for you to get started today. You can also [join us on Discord](https://chat.lbry.io) or [our forum](https://discourse.lbry.io) to interact with other developers and ask questions. ### The Rewards In addition to being more generous with LBC rewards this month, we’re offering the following: * 500 LBC for anyone who submits an accepted PR, regardless of whether you’ve submitted one before. This is separate from normal rewards for difficulty/effort/value. * A sweet T-shirt for anyone who submits 3 PRs. * A Lamborghini Aventador S for anyone who submits 800,000 accepted PRs. ### The Schedule #### 10/3 An Introduction to the LBRY SDK Jack Robinson - Protocol Developer #### 10/6 - 10/7 Vellore India Hackathon #### 10/10 Developing the LBRY App Sean Yesmunt - Applications Engineer #### 10/17 Developing the LBRY Android App Akinwale Ariwodola - Lead Mobile Developer #### 10/19 - 10/20 University of New Hampshire Hackathon! #### 10/24 Developing the LBRY Blockchain Brannon King - Blockchain Team Lead If you haven’t yet downloaded the [LBRY app](https://lbry.io/get) and [LBRY for Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.lbry.browser&ah=IM6eaiKc3weXB9nBHq2zxUrx8F8), what are you waiting for?
